Youth Design Agency
Youth Design Agency is a youth creative agency and innovation hub that provides a gateway for young people to learn marketable hard skills in STEAM, access postsecondary education, achieve economic mobility, and engage in place-based community revitalization. Made in Brownsville projects teach design thinking, art, multimedia, tech and communication skills to give young people the technical and leadership tools they need to compete in the innovation economy and to be leaders in their community.
The Pitkin Advantage
The Pitkin BID delivers services to local business and property owners and has a meaningful impact on the Brownsville community through quality of life initiatives. Introducing the Pitkin Advantage! The Pitkin Advantage card is FREE to Pitkin Avenue shoppers and Ocean Hill-Brownsville residents. Cardholders use the card to get unique deals and discounts at participating retailers on Pitkin and Rockaway Avenue. Deals and discounts are updated monthly so be sure to check back regularly!
Brownsville Mobility Labs
JobsFirstNYC, in partnership with the Brownsville Justice Center, Made in Brownsville, Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation, and Community Board 16, is working with Brownsville residents in a community-driven process to: (1) Define economic mobility; (2) Determine existing barriers to mobility; and (3) Identify possible solutions. This initiative uses intensive, deep community engagement to discover place-based solutions to economic mobility. The community engagement process will continue through June 2020, at which point the community is expected to put forth an implementable plan to support economic mobility.
